Steven R. Kampf, Esq.

Attorney at Law and Firm Owner

Steven R. Kampf is the founder of the Kampf Law Firm and has dedicated his career exclusively to the practice of family law.  As a family law attorney who has been practicing since 2011, Mr. Kampf has handled hundreds of dissolution and paternity cases from inception to resolution with exceptional results.  He has served as lead counsel on countless dissolutions and cases involving paternity disputes, child custody and visitation conflicts, child support, spousal support, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements, and many other family law issues.  Mr. Kampf has proven success both in and out of the courtroom, having litigated numerous multi-day trials and evidentiary hearings while also being able to settle many difficult cases without having to ever set foot inside of a court.

Mr. Kampf prides himself on his strong desire to help successfully navigate clients through one of the most difficult and important situations in their family’s lives to a rewarding conclusion.  Recognizing that every family law case is as unique as the individual involved, his intention is always to advise clients on the distinctive facts of their specific case and to strategize and advocate on their behalf while keeping the client’s individual goals and best interest of the children at the forefront.  Mr. Kampf does not approach any case with a predetermined mindset or manner of thinking and advocates for creative problem-solving and is equally comfortable in the courtroom and at the negotiating table.  Mr. Kampf’s reputation for honesty, trust and integrity convinced him establishing his own law firm with these key ideals was exactly what he wanted to do.

Prior to founding the Kampf Law Firm, Mr. Kampf worked as a family law attorney for several private law firms.  This has afforded him the opportunity to gain a wealth of courtroom experience while representing numerous clients in the San Diego County, Los Angeles County, Ventura County, and Santa Barbara County courts.

Mr. Kampf possesses extensive experience representing clients in dissolutions involving the characterization and division of marital estates.  He has great familiarity dealing with common divorce issues including but not limited to those related to the family home or residence, spousal support, retirement accounts, stocks, tracing, insurance policies, and other assets and debts.  Mr. Kampf is also seasoned in handling cases involving domestic violence.  He has successfully sought and obtained domestic violence and civil harassment restraining orders as well as successfully defended clients on many domestic violence cases throughout his career.

Mr. Kampf has a substantial background in all aspects of child custody and visitation matters.  He has litigated many cases involving move-aways, post-judgment change of custody requests, psychological evaluations, minor’s counsel, alleged child abuse, interstate child abduction, drug and alcohol abuse and a diverse range of other issues concerning minor children, including child support and arrears.  Mr. Kampf has thorough knowledge of California child support calculations and has worked with the Department of Child Support Services many times.    Helping children and the disadvantaged has always been an interest of Mr. Kampf.  He published an article in SDPA Precedents, a San Diego Paralegal Association bi-monthly magazine, regarding children’s voices being heard in our courts.  Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Kampf developed an informational pamphlet on family law and bankruptcy issues for client distribution in low income areas and assisted in the successful development of a community outreach program with the Family Law Division of the Legal Aid Society of San Diego.

Mr. Kampf is admitted to practice before all state courts in California and the United States District Court (Southern District of California).  He is a member of the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and obtained his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.
